The Last Backup

Every night at midnight, the government backs up your mind. Officially, it's for medical records. Unofficially, it's insurance against death itself.

Six months after his wife dies in a train crash, journalist Daniel Mercer gets a text only she could have sent: I wasn't the one who died.

The trail leads to a buried programme that quietly restores the chosen dead - and disposes of what's left behind. But someone's been editing the backups. Rewriting memories. Rewriting people.

As Daniel digs for the truth, he doesn't know the one thing that could break him completely: he's already found it, and he was never meant to remember.
