The Last Candlemaker

In 1884, the city of Hanover still burns by candlelight.

For Chandler Bliss, a fourth-generation candlemaker, flame is more than a livelihood. It is tradition, identity, and the quiet warmth that has guided humanity for centuries.

But when a revolutionary new invention known as Artificial Illumination is unveiled at City Hall, Hanover is transformed almost overnight.

The glowing machines promise safety, efficiency, and endless progress. Streets shine brighter. Businesses flourish. City leaders celebrate the arrival of a modern age.

Yet beneath the perfect glow, something feels deeply wrong.

Candlemakers vanish from the streets. Neighbors grow fearful and distant. Old traditions are condemned as dangerous relics of the past. And as the city rushes toward its brilliant future, those who question the new order are quietly pushed aside.

Caught between loyalty to his family and a world changing beyond recognition, Chandler must decide whether to adapt, remain silent, or risk everything to protect the fragile flame that once defined his life.

The Last Candlemaker is a haunting historical allegory about unchecked progress, the cost of convenience, and the fading warmth of a humanity willing to surrender its soul for a brighter tomorrow.
