Paperback. A piercing and witty portrait of a true maverickAva Langdon is often not herself. Having fled her early life in New Zealand and endured the loss of her children, she now lives as a recluse in the Blue Mountains. Regarded by locals as a colourful eccentric, she dresses in men's clothes and fearlessly pursues her artistic path. All that matters to Ava is her writing. Words offer beauty and a sense of possibility when so much else has been lost. But can they offer her redemption in her last days?Poetic, poignant, and at times bitingly funny, The Last Days of Ava Langdon takes us into the mind of a true maverick. Ava Langdon, a novelist haunted by eccentricity and a passion for words, lives as an outcast in the Blue Mountains. Unbeknownst to her, time is running short.
Each day is a quest for the perfect sentence, the perfect description, as Ava navigates the world in men’s clothing, peppering conversations with French phrases. From submitting a final manuscript to a fateful encounter with a ute, Ava's journey encapsulates the freedom of being different and the poignant beauty of isolation. This is a story for readers who appreciate character-driven narratives, Australian settings, and explorations of mental health. Experience a tale that is both heartbreaking and humorous, atmospheric and thought-provoking.
