About the Author
Pat Cunningham Devoto was born and raised in Alabama, where her family first settled in 1820, and infuses her novel with authentic local color. The book also takes a revealing look at Southern provincialism and racism as viewed through the innocent eyes of children. She is a former high school history teacher and lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
