Synopsis

Zion’s Trail, the sequel to The Gathering Storm, continues the story of Steven Christopher, who was chosen by the prophet to guide the first Mormon wagon train of a thousand saints across a barren and forbidden land from Utah to the Land of Zion. Steven feels inadequate in the face of this great challenge, but receives help from his new wife, Mary, from his family, and especially from the Lord in many unusual ways. The new pioneers begin their long journey with joy and confidence, but soon learn that their road is fraught with danger, hardships, and disease. The unbelievable trials they encounter will test them to the utmost. Will all of the new pioneers have the faith and courage to reach the promised land? The story of these struggles holds an important message for all Latter-day Saints.

As the Saints travel to Missouri, Gerald Galloway and his global government called UGOT, continue to extend their power and influence in the world. Gerald is supported in his evil quest by his cold-blooded lover, Lucielle Delisle and the “prophet,” Colton Aldridge, who uses Satan-inspired miracles to convince the leaders of nations to join the cause of UGOT. Gerald’s goal is to gather the wicked armies of the earth to wage the war of Armageddon against Israel. As part of his plan, Gerald persecutes the saints and other good people in foreign lands. How will the saints respond to this wicked oppression? Will they try to get along with UGOT, or will they resist?

About the Author

Kenneth R. Tarr taught French language and literature at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, for fourteen years, and French for three years at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. He received a masters degree in French and Spanish at Brigham Young in 1965, and a doctorate in French and history at Kansas University in 1973.

He was born and raised in Southern California and has been a member of the LDS church all his life.

He enjoys writing, reading, walking and jogging, repairing things, practicing the piano, and listening to good music.

Kenneth and his wife, Kathy, have been married for thirty-seven years and have eight children and sixteen grandchildren. Currently they live in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, where they operate a book store and an herb shop.
