When Vietnam vet Steve Conway takes a position as a hotel manager in Manila to seek peace and overcome a personal tragedy, instead of tranquility he finds a country on the verge of revolution. The Marcos regime is tottering and "People Power" is about to show the world tht love of country transcends all. In this highly charged atmosphere he finds the operation he is working for is not what it seems. Behind the scenes are secret deals involving drugs, corruption and murder. It is a world of greed, deception and depravity in which he encounters degenerate expats, crooked cops and exotic women. Despite their hardship, poverty and oppression, the flame of democracy still burns brightly in the heart of the Filipino people and they are determined to throw off the yoke of the dictator and regain their freedom.
I'm writing to congratulate you on your splendid book, "The Last Jeep to Baclaran" which I have just finished reading.
The more pages I turned , the harder it was to put down as the tension and twists and turns of an intriguing plot built chapter by chapter.
This is a very fine effort indeed -- slick writing, highly professional research, and free-flowing dialogue.
This is an entertaining easy-to-read novel -- an irresistible travelling companion or a new best friend to snuggle up with on a lazy afternoon.
Keep the books coming please. Your/my hero Steve Conway is no doubt destined for more fascinating adventures in his escapades around Asia. --Glyn May, Journalist Feature writer, Brisbane Telegraph
A great read which I thoroughly enjoyed. This is extremely well written best proof of which was I kept wanting to get back to it to find out what would happen next . It also made me re-examine a few things about my own books. Like did Cyber Girl have enough complexity in its plot - maybe not I'm thinking now, also your character descriptions are much more expansive than mine, now I think mine weren't detailed enough. I also liked the little witticisms. Anyway, congratulations again on 'The lastJeep' --Neville Allen, author "Cyber Girl" Saving Face
What a great book! It took me into a world I never knew existed. I could not put it down. A cast of intriguing characters and events held my interest to the very last page. One of the best books I have read in recent times. --Elena Meysak "Russian Review" Elena Meysak editor "Russia Today" Neville Allen, best selling International author, "Cyber Girl" "Saving Face"
