The Last Legacy: Or, The Autobiography And Religious Profession Of Joseph Davis, Senior, A Member And Trustee Of The Sabbath-Keeping Congregation In Mill Yard, Goodman's Fields; Together With Public Documents Relating To Him And To His Benefactions by Joseph Davis, Senior is a 19th-century republication compiling the autobiography and related documents of a prominent Sabbatarian Baptist figure. The work presents Joseph Davis Senior’s life story, including his birth in 1627 in Chipping-Norton, his early religious influences, his baptism and moral steadfastness, and his long imprisonment for nonconformity during the Civil War and aftermath. It details his conversion to Seventh-day Sabbath observance, his personal trials, and his spiritual convictions, illustrated by his own declarations of faith. The volume also contains a reprint of his Will and Testament, an Epistle written during prison, and translations of a pardon and other public documents relating to his benefactions and the Mill Yard Trust. Editor W. H. Black provides prefatory context, along with extensive appendices documenting elections of trustees and legal proceedings that shaped the Mill Yard charitable foundation.
