After years of service in the most dangerous and loneliest areas of Texas, as a Ranger, Samuel Hodge moved his wife and children to Denver where he would open an office and become head investigator for the Pinkerton Agency. This proved to be the biggest mistake of his life, when on a long ago Thanksgiving day his family would be taken from him, while he would be left for dead.

It would be a year before Hodge would have any clues to the whereabouts of his family. In his pursuit of the evil that destroyed his life, he built an agency with the most questionable characters, gaining the admiration and respect from those who knew and served under him. Hodge would end his career finding what meant most to him and in the process give up those he so truly loved.

Randolph Post was just a young newspaper reporter trying to dig deeper into the life of a man he wanted to write a story about. A story that would ultimately change the lives of his whole family with the secrets that would be told and truths he would uncover.
