The Binding is full pale green cloth, somewhat faded at the spine, with a gilt crown on the front board, gilt title, etc., to a purple background on the spine, unmarked pictorial endpapers illustrating the Tower of London in the time of Henry VI, and all corners square but no longer sharp. This fourth and last volume in the author's The Pageant of England series begins with the birth and ascension to the throne of King Richard II, who became king in 1377 at the age of 10, and follows the struggles between the two lines of the Plantagenets, the House of Lancaster and the House of York, up to the final defeat of King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, bringing an end to the reign of Plantagenets.
