The larger-than-life Adirondack characters you may have read about are still with us, living with gusto and making conventional people uncomfortable. The author dwelled among them, either as a friend or acquaintance, and in telling their stories, tells you his own. Characters and places spring to life with the addition of photographs by noted North Country photographer, Alvin Reiner
