The Last Rustler: The Autobiography of Lee Sage

"The Last Rustler, the Autobiography of Lee Sage" is a raw and gripping first-hand account of life on the vanishing American frontier. Lee Sage, a man who lived between the law and the wild landscapes of the West, recounts his upbringing among the Ute people and his transition into the world of horse thieves and cattle rustlers. This memoir captures the transition of the Old West from a lawless expanse to a settled territory, told through the eyes of a man who refused to be tamed.

Sage's narrative is filled with tales of high-stakes escapes, desert survival, and the unique codes of honor that governed the lives of outlaws. The work preserves the vernacular and rugged spirit of a bygone era, serving as a vital historical document for those interested in the sociology of the frontier and the authentic experiences of those who operated on the fringes of society. From the high mesas to the dusty trails, Sage provides an unvarnished look at the grit and adventure that defined the cowboy way of life during its most turbulent years. It stands as a testament to a wilder chapter of American history, capturing the voice of a man who truly belonged to the open range.
