The Last Stop: The Final Capture of Ted Bundy in Pensacola

He escaped prison twice. He crossed state lines, changed his appearance, and eluded the largest dragnet in American history. But on a quiet street in Pensacola, Florida, his luck finally ran out.

While dozens of books have detailed the terrifying crime spree of America’s most infamous serial murderer, The Last Stop focuses on the dramatic, white-knuckle climax that history often glosses over: the final hours of Ted Bundy’s freedom and the midnight traffic stop that ended his reign of terror forever.

In February 1978, driving a stolen orange Volkswagen Beetle down West Cervantes Street, Bundy believed he had once again outsmarted law enforcement. He was living under a false identity, hundreds of miles from his known hunting grounds, and flying completely under the radar. He thought he was home free.

He was dead wrong.

Inside this gripping true crime account, you’ll discover:

The Mindset of a Fugitive: How Bundy’s hubris, overconfidence, and growing recklessness pushed him directly into a trap of his own making. The Midnight Encounter: A detailed breakdown of his confrontation with Pensacola Patrol Officer David Lee—and the violent struggle that ensued when Bundy realized he was cornered. The Local Investigation: How Pensacola authorities unmasked the quiet stranger, realized who they had in handcuffs, and ensured he would never see freedom again.

Rich with atmospheric detail and focused on the pivotal Florida arrest, The Last Stop delivers the missing final chapter in true crime history.
