An invitation card to one of The Kitchen s most infamous performance pieces, in which video artist John Sanborn imagined Marcel Duchamp s foray into video art. Announced as a series of rare tapes made by Duchamp, the films were actually an elaborate performance orchestrated by Sanborn with help from Hannah Wilke, Shigeko Kubota, and Russell Connor. The doctored photograph on this card, and the invitation itself, enhanced the ruse: hundreds of people attended the opening believing they would experience Duchamp s previously unseen work.
