The new and enlarged edition, with 266 illustrations. Roy octavo, original illustrated boards, b&w author porttrait frontis plate, many b&w illustrations, pp xxii, 738. Ex-library, with usual markings, very worn to the edges of the spine, corners lightly rubbed. Text and illustrations clean. Good condition. The magician known as Professor Hoffmann (real name Angelo Lewis) was considered to be one of the greatest authorities on the theory and practice of magic. "Later Magic" is a compendium of a wide range of magic tricks, demonstrating the techniques. Chapters include: the conjuror's dress; useful appliances; the special table; the magic wand; tricks with watches; tricks with rings; several sections on handkerchiefs; flag tricks; tricks with gloves; tricks with eggs; trick with hats; various new and miscellaneous tricks. There is also a chapter on the life and performances of Hartz the Wizard (Joseph Michael Hartz (1836 - 1903). The book is copiously illustrated.
