Item description from seller

*Sales/posting to the USA suspended*. Card covers, xv/339pp, some b&w photos and maps. A little wear on edges, former owner's 'from the library of' plate on half title. Else very good. Biography of the head of the Australian Army from 1935 to 1939 who dropped a rank in order to go to war in 1940. He was the first Allied commander to stop Rommel's advance across North Africa, but was consigned to obscurity because Blamey considered him a rival. This biography sheds light on a career that is relatively unknown.
