Lavinia: A Novel (1861)

Lavinia: A Novel is a historical fiction novel written by Italian author Giovanni Ruffini in 1861. The story is set in ancient Rome and follows the life of Lavinia, a young Roman woman who falls in love with a foreign prince named Turnus. Lavinia's father, King Latinus, is initially opposed to their relationship, but eventually gives his blessing for their marriage. However, their happiness is short-lived as Turnus is killed in battle and Lavinia is left to navigate the political and social turmoil of ancient Rome. Throughout the novel, Lavinia's strength and resilience are tested as she grapples with loss, betrayal, and the challenges of being a woman in a male-dominated society. Ruffini's vivid descriptions of ancient Rome and his complex characters make Lavinia: A Novel a compelling read for fans of historical fiction.Three Volumes In One.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
