About this Item

Bound together in two-tone cloth, with hand-lettered title in ink on spine. Upper corners of pages creased in second offprint, else Very Good. Cohen apparently read these papers; in his 'Galileo's Rejection of the Possibility of Velocity Changing Uniformly with Respect to Distance' (Isis, Vol. 47, No. 3, Sept. 1956, pp. 231-235), he cites them both. Also see Susan M. Babbitt, 'Oresme's Livre de Politiques and the France of Charles V' (Transactions of the American Philosophical Society, New Ser., Vol. 75, No. 1, 1985, pp. 1-158). Avempace = Ibn Bajja; see D.S.B. I: 408-10, for reference to this article. 'As has been shown by E. A. Moody, [Ibn Bajja's] theory, which was known in Latin Europe through the exposition of Ibn Rushid, who refuted it, influenced Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus, and other Schoolmen' (Shlomo Pines in D.S.B. I: 410). Bookseller Inventory # D00306
