A pocket sized edition of this popular poem. In a lovely morocco binding. The 'Author's Edition' of this work. With an engraved title page. Engraved title page is dated 1852 but true title page is dated 1855. The Lay of the Last Minstrel was originally published in 1805 and is a long narrative poem. The work is written in six cantos and is a verse romance in the Gothic style. In a full morocco binding with gilt stamping to the spine and to the boards. Externally, generally smart with patches of light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Further light rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Spine has faded. Front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's inscription to recto of front endpaper dated 1855. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, spotting to the endpapers, otherwise the occasional light spot. Very Good.
