Leader of Liberty: Tale of America's First Spy Ring

General George Washington narrowly escapes the British at the Battle of Brooklyn and loses control of New York Harbor. Desperately in need of someone to go undercover in British-occupied New York, he turns to a smart, young, enthusiastic lieutenant from Long Island to make the arrangements. The son of a Presbyterian minister from Setauket, Benjamin Tallmadge is requested by Washington to set up a secret correspondence. In creating an illustrious spy ring, Benjamin chooses close-knit friends from his youth, and with ingenuity he creates a series of code names and numbers to gather information. Can he get it to Washington in time?

How do these inexperienced but impassioned believers in their cause help Washington pervail against the greatest army in the world? With determination, these spies will hide their identities and take to their graves their membership in what history will come to call the Culper Spy Ring.

And who was agent 355---the code name for lady? After almost 250 years, that question remains unanswered--or does this tale unveil its long-buried secret?

A story spanning fifteen years during America's fight for feedom, Leader of Liberty is filled with details of sacrifice and terror. A book intriguing to both history buffs and those who love an enthralling historical romance. It is a true testament to the bravery, grit, and determination of those founding figures who brought our beloved America into being!
