Leaders Among Rest of Us: A Guide for the Introverts

This book is not a self-improvement programme, but a collection of honest suggestions to the introverts for becoming successful leaders. It will not ask you to become more extroverted, more confident, or more optimistic, because these are not improvements. They are simply different configurations of personality, and the assumption that one configuration is the correct one for leadership is precisely the problem this book aims at addressing. I am aware that the reader of a book like this brings a specific and often acute sensitivity to being misread. You have spent years being told, in effect, that the way you are is slightly wrong — slightly too quiet, slightly too uncertain, slightly too unwilling to project confidence you do not feel. The last thing this book should do is replicate that experience by making assumptions about you that do not hold. ,
