These men and women are from a variety of fields -- arts and literature, science, politics and sports. Included are individuals such as Gavin Newsom, Lieutenant Governor of California; Gaston Caperton, former governor of West Virginia and President of the College Board; MacArthur Fellowship "Genius Award" -- winning palaeontologist, Jack Horner; one of America's pre-eminent visual artists, Chuck Close; actor Henry Winkler and financier Charles Schwab. The book is not framed as a "feature piece" but one that develops the trials, tribulations and triumphs in unique ways, befitting those who have become extraordinarily successful despite the odds. The writing is constructed to explore a myriad of underlying dynamics of accomplishment to give the reader a thematic view of LD and dyslexia by hearing the voices of those included in the book. The content for the book was derived from extensive interviews and is presented in a reader-friendly format from what has been gleaned from research and the prevailing wisdom in this area over the last 25 years.
