About the Author
Over the past 35 years, John has coached and trained tens of thousands of leaders worldwide. He managed executive and leadership development for 86,000 employees at Lockheed Corporation where he designed and taught the Lockheed Executive Institutes for 13 years. He started his own consulting firm in 1980 where he continues to research, consult, teach, and coach CEOs, presidents, executives, military, government, and business leaders.
John began his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado, finished his bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University, and earned his master's degree in Organizational Communication where he wrote his thesis at Parliament in London. He began his doctoral work and teaching at Michigan State University, and continued doctoral studies under management guru Peter Drucker in Executive Performance and Leadership at Claremont Graduate School.
He was selected National Trainer of the Year by the American Society for Training and Development for two consecutive years and a three time speaker on Orals Coaching at the National Conference of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals. In addition to training and coaching all levels of management at Kennedy Space Center over an eight year period, John has worked with organizations including: Citibank, U.S. Air Force, Chevron, Lockheed Martin, Toshiba, CSL-Hong Kong, Xerox, GM, Kaiser Permanente, Telstra-Australia, U.S. Department of Energy, Boeing, and many other government agencies and commercial firms.
John has published many articles, manuals, and workbooks and has recently published the award- winning Stewart Leadership Series. His title book, Lead Now! A Personal Coaching Guide for Results-driven Leaders, won the Indie Excellence award in Leadership, and 52 Leadership Lessons was also nationally recognized.
He has worked or studied in all 50 states in the United States, 6 continents, and averages over 125,000 air miles each year. John builds successful common cultures in organizations, and speaks to thousands of professionals each year around the globe. He has led several multi-million dollar change efforts for international corporations in successfully realigning their operations and manufacturing processes, and has united diverse corporate cultures during multi-billion dollar mergers and consolidations, leading to significant gains in organizational performance and integrated cultures.
