The Twin Towers Fund was started by Rudy Giuliani to provide support, assistance, and recognition to the families of the uniformed officers from the New York City Police and Fire Departments, The Port Authority, Court Officers, and civilian rescue workers who perished or were seriously injured during the rescue of more than 20,000 people from the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Since its inception, The Twin Towers Fund has raised more than $205 million and distributed over $195 million to the affected families.
