Add to basketEach chapter of Leading When God Is Moving begins with a contrast between the commitments which help build momentum and those which hinder it. The issues that arise out of these contrasts, such as loss of identity, community changes and breaking through growth barriers, are then developed. The author concludes with questions that cause personal reflection and an inventory list for spiritual leaders that will help them identify how they need to manage the change that confronts their churches.
Other topics dealt with include spiritual myths like "Leadership is easy in a church that's experiencing a movement of God"; having courage in the face of opposition; building a group of supporting leaders; and setting priorities.
As senior pastor, Wayne Schmidt has led the church in its vision for leadership in both local and worldwide ministry. Kentwood Community Wesleyan Church is instrumental in leading over 100 adults to Christ each year and has been responsible for planting three daughter congregations. Its vision for world outreach through a strong missions program is increasing and is a significant portion of the annual budget.
Wayne graduated summa cum laude from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1979 and, after completing a master's degree, earned a doctor of ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1994.
He is the author of Soul Management (Zondervan Publishing House) and co-author of Accountability: Becoming People of Integrity (Wesleyan Publishing House).
Wayne and his wife Jan have been married since 1978 and greatly enjoy parenting their children, Chris, Jordan and Elise.
