The More You Learn The Less You Know: Why God Is Intimately Knowable Yet Infinitely Unknowable

No one has more questions about God than those who know Him best. When you first become a Christian, your relationship with God begins much like entering into the small end of a funnel. Then with every step you take further toward the light of God’s presence, the more the funnel widens out and the bigger you realize He is. With every step you take closer to God, He gets two steps bigger. The funnel never stops widening out, but our minds can only expand so far. A person can know God intimately for decades yet still feel like they’ve only scratched the surface. The more you learn the less you know. It’s completely normal for God to seem knowable yet baffling, understandable yet perplexing, comprehensible yet unfathomable, close yet distant—all at the same time. Our unanswered questions can be painful, frustrating, and even maddening. This book endeavors to plumb the immeasurable depths of God on topics like the Trinity, predestination, suffering, miracles, unanswered prayers, God’s sovereignty over a dysfunctional world, His relationship with time, and many of His most enigmatic attributes. It attempts to explain the mysteries no language can explain, but in the clearest possible language. Take courage; no one has more questions about God than the people closest to Him. If you’re grappling with trying to understand God’s deepest mysteries, you’ve come to the right book.
