Learning with Computers I

In the new second edition LEARNING WITH COMPUTERS I (Level Green, Grade 7), users are introduced to the Explorer�s Club where four young members of the club - Luis, Ray, Julie, and Lin - guide readers on Microsoft Office explorations. Along the way, each person keeps a personal journal about their explorations. The book offers multiple opportunities to reinforce and maintain basic keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, graphics, and Internet skills. Users are also introduced to new grade-level appropriate computer skills based on the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS). Additionally, the book emphasizes research, reading, and writing activities relevant to social studies, science, math, and language arts curriculum.

H. Albert Napier is a Professor of Management at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University. The author and co-author of several books about using desktop applications, Al has been involved in computer education for more than 20 years.

Ollie N. Rivers has more than 20 years business experience in financial and administrative management and more than 10 years experience as a corporate trainer. She is a co-author of two e-business textbooks; a contributing author on more than 15 software applications and Internet textbooks; and has developed numerous continuing education seminars for accounting professionals. Ms. Rivers holds an MBA and a BS in Accounting and Management, both from Houston Baptist University.

Dr. Jack P. Hoggatt writes the Keyboarding reinforcement activities for the Learning with Computers projects. He is Department Chair for the Department of Business Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He has taught courses in Business Writing, Advanced Business Communications, and the communication component of the university�s Master in Business Administration (MBA) program. Dr. Hoggatt has held offices in professional organizations and has been received the Outstanding Post-Secondary Business Educator Award in Wisconsin. He has served as an advisor to local and state business organizations. Dr. Hoggatt is involved with his community and the school activities of his four children.
