Learning a Loving Way of Life (A La Leche League International book)

From Foreword: "If you've been part of La Leche League for any length of time, 'Learning a Loving Way of Life' will be like a trip down memory lane. Certainly, it unleashed a flood of memories for me, coming upon familiar names and favorite stories from the past and recalling the circumstances through which they first touched my life. Yet make no mistake, this isn't just a book of recollections. In fact it might even more accurately be described as an Owner's Manual for the parents of today. For the dialogues, the humor, the challenges, and even the heartaches described herein are timeless. They speak to us with the wisdom of parents who started with a common decision to breastfeed their babies and found that through the experience of breastfeeding their perspective and priorities were forever changed. This is the kind of book we need in our schools when young people study society and family life. These short autobiographical pieces, honestly expressed, explain better than any study guide ever could what it feels like to be a parent. Nancy Mohrbacher and Virginia Halonen have done a masterful job in sifting through 26 years and 156 issues of LLL NEWS to bring us a book that we all can use. It provides inspiration and advice, leavened with humor for those in the midst of raising their children. It illustrates in practical detail how commitment and fidelity are expressed in family life for those whose parenting days lie ahead. And for those whose childbearing days are past, it gives us hope for the future. For accepting that the family is the seedbed of society, these accounts give us tangible hope for a better world. --Marian Tompson, LLL Founder, 1987"
