Learning Rounds with Teachers: Building Reflective Practitioners (Paperback or Softback)

Do you have pockets of great teaching in your building that you wish everyone could see? Or perhaps you have a group of new teachers in your building who are juggling to do everything that comes with great teaching? Or maybe you are a leader trying to connect school improvement goals and cross-functional teams and provide meaningful professional development, all while trying to build reflective practitioners in your building.

If any of these sound like you or your experiences, then Learning Rounds with Teachers: Building Reflective Practitioners is for you. Come along as Dr. Marcy Roan takes you through the process of designing meaningful learning rounds that build reflective practices with teachers. This process also describes how leaders can use the information to inform and support school improvement goals and school transformation.

Marcy is a veteran educator with over twenty-two years as an educator with experience in the classroom, state assessment, school leadership, and coaching all levels of educators. Dr. Roan is the proud recipient of the Guilford Education Alliance SPARK award for Innovation in Education.

Learning how to facilitate instructional rounds with Dr. Roan was the most transformative practice I have implemented to date as a school leader. This process creates opportunities for an intense focus on data, student learning, and teacher reflection-a combination that catapults student outcomes.

Denise Cobb, Curriculum Facilitator

Learning Rounds with Teachers provides a practical tool for principals to implement learning rounds. This resource is user-friendly and will allow school leaders to create a collaborative approach to improving student outcomes in their schools.

Dr. Melia Neale, Retired Principal

In her first book, Learning Rounds with Teachers: Building Reflective Practitioners, Dr. Marcy Roan has succeeded in creating an actionable guide that any school can use to improve instruction. The power of instructional rounds has been identified in numerous publications. Dr. Roan has made that accessible to school teams. Her GROWTH model is both comprehensive and concise. It provides a lens through which teams can look at the process of learning rounds. This book is so wonderful because it is written by someone who has implemented this process with great results and has honed the process down to make it easy to replicate. All educational leaders need this book in their professional libraries.
