Leaving Shore: Making the Choice to Live in Discovery

In Leaving Shore: Making the Choice to Live in Discovery, Barbara A. Bernard expands on her journey of self-discovery, as she recounted in her earlier book Birthdays of the Soul: Seeing Yourself Change in Times of Sea Change. Following the publication of Birthdays of the Soul, she was frequently invited to share the strategies that she used as she navigated major life transitions. Subsequently, she began to collect stories that illustrated how these same ideas and processes were utilized as individuals navigated their own changes and challenges.

Barbara outlines a broad spectrum of strategies that can be used or accessed in any order. You, the reader, identify where to start and what’s important to you. Illustrated with anecdotes and graphics, Barbara guides you gently through the process of making small changes, house cleaning your mind, nurturing your body, and listening to your inner wisdom. Throughout Leaving Shore, you are supported to see the power of noticing, paying attention, being in the present, and guiding your life with gratitude and compassion. As, step by step, you develop the capacity to more frequently suspend judgment towards yourself, or those around you, you discover an inner and outer world that is more neutral, compassionate, and kind.

Come journey with Barbara as she provides you a wide array of possibilities to navigate in an ever-changing world, unfamiliar landscapes, and challenges you didn’t anticipate. Barbara supports you to live with the life you’ve been given, even when it isn’t the life you wished for. Leaving Shore: Making the Choice to Live in Discovery helps you to see the opportunities in that which is, which often becomes more than you could have imagined possible.
