About this title

Synopsis

""Lectures On Certain Difficulties Felt By Anglicans In Submitting To The Catholic Church"" is a book written by John Henry Newman in 1850. The book is a compilation of lectures that Newman delivered in Oxford in 1850, where he discussed the challenges that Anglicans faced in accepting the Catholic Church. Newman, who was a prominent Anglican theologian, converted to Catholicism in 1845. In this book, he addresses the difficulties that Anglicans faced in submitting to the authority of the Catholic Church, including the role of the Pope, the doctrine of infallibility, and the authority of tradition. The lectures are divided into four parts, each addressing a different aspect of the difficulties faced by Anglicans. The first part discusses the nature of the Church, the second part deals with the authority of the Pope, the third part focuses on the doctrine of infallibility, and the fourth part addresses the authority of tradition. Throughout the book, Newman provides a detailed analysis of the issues and offers compelling arguments in favor of Catholicism. He also addresses the objections raised by Anglicans and provides answers to their questions. ""Lectures On Certain Difficulties Felt By Anglicans In Submitting To The Catholic Church"" is a significant work in the history of Christian theology and played a crucial role in Newman's eventual conversion to Catholicism. It is still widely read and studied today by theologians, scholars, and anyone interested in the history of the Catholic Church and its relationship with other Christian denominations. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
