Lectures on Metaphysics and Logic, Vol. 1 of 4 (Classic Reprint)

Uncover how the mind gathers and orders its thoughts to grasp truth. This volume presents a rigorous examination of judgment, reasoning, and the conditions that make rational insight possible. Through historical and contemporary voices, it explores how attention shapes understanding, and why sustained focus can turn learning into creative power.

Written in clear, accessible prose, the lectures move from how language links ideas to how the mind combines multiple objects into a coherent whole. Readings on syllogisms, the limits of simultaneous perception, and the value of deliberate concentration illuminate the habits that help thinkers—from students to scholars—maintain steady, meaningful inquiry.

• Clear explanations of how judgment and reasoning relate in thought and language

• Discussion of attention as a voluntary, trainable faculty and its impact on learning

• Analogies and examples connecting philosophy to mathematics, rhetoric, and everyday thought

• Historical references to Aristotle, medieval schools, and famed thinkers to illuminate concepts

Ideal for readers of philosophy, logic, and the history of ideas who want a deeper look at how the mind processes and sustains inquiry.
