Pages tanned. Top and bottom of the spine is worn and pieces of the binding in those areas are missing. Hinges are worn and cracked. Cover edges and corners are worn. This volume was an office copy at Lea Brothers and Company in Philadelphia as is indicated on the front cover. The publishing company stamped office copies on the title page, " Property of Lea Brothers & Co. Mutilated Copy. " so the item would not be sold. The volume is otherwise clean and tight. It was owned for decades by a pre-eminent medical bibliographer.
