Left Legs

Octavo in black and grey pictorial wraps (grey spine); unpaged. Series: Iraq Project; Dedicated to Younus Mahmoud, Captain of the Iraqi Soccer Team; "Komu has been meditating on football for a few years now, and is as passionate a fan of the sport as I've met - and is particularly committed to the sport in India." From back cover: "Through his works, sculptor Riyas Komu has always questioned the notion of the West and its renewed role in acquiring and accumulating territory and subjects on a truly astonishing scale. In this project, Komu takes the battle of his interest to one of the most turbulent settings of our times, Iraq. He kicks into a new series of contrarian arguments using perhaps the most passionate athletic activity on earth, soccer, and the potential in marking the social, geographical and national field."
