Tara Reade shares the aftermath of the re-victimization of speaking out about her sexual assault, with then-Senator Joe Biden in 1993, where the shaming, attacks, and threats instigated by the media sent her into a personal tailspin. Tara-rized viciously by cyber bullies, receiving death threats and fearing for her life and those of her family, Tara tells how living with no regret and coming forward was right for her conscience.
The moment that defines Tara will not confine her, but instead move her forward by reclaiming her identity. Tara pulls together the pieces of her life experiences to forge a path of hope so that other survivors may have dignity coming forward. This memoir reflects that Tara knew the value of speaking truth to power even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Tara Reade was born in Monterey, California. She spent the younger part of her childhood in the north woods of Wisconsin. Later, she lived in Georgia and California. Tara always loved horses, being in nature, and was an avid skier.
She studied classical theatre and performed in many Shakespeare plays throughout her life. As a teenager, Tara moved to California and was a professional model and actress. She acted in such productions as, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Highway to Heaven and played a dancer in the film La Bamba.
Tara then became a political operative working on a congressional race as a Field Manager and Intern for Leon Panetta. Tara worked on an animal advocacy issue that became a law, coordinating the legislative briefings. She also became a staffer for then Senator Joseph Biden. After some time, Tara moved back to California with her daughter Michaela, and worked for State Senator Jack O'Connell.
In 1998, Tara and her daughter moved to Seattle Washington. As a survivor of domestic violence Tara wanted to advocate for other women so she graduated from law school in 2004. Tara worked as a Victim Advocate for the King County Prosecutor's Office. Tara is a certified FLETC Homeland Security Domestic Violence Prevention Instructor. Over the years, she worked for several nonprofits to support domestic violence victims. Tara used her training and work experience to become an Expert Witness for Domestic Violence Court and presented training in her community of Monterey. Tara also worked as an Executive Director for an animal rescue.
Tara loves creative writing. She has written and published several articles and poems throughout her life. In 2019, she started the novel, The Last Snow Tiger due to come out in 2021. Tara continues to advocate for animals and lives with her rescued cats and adopted horse, Charm.
