Legacy

What kind of legacy are you leaving behind?

If you're responsible for public infrastructure—whether you're on a board, or in the C-suite - this book is an essential companion.

Legacy: A Decision-Maker’s Guide to Infrastructure is not another technical manual. It’s a clear-eyed, call to rethink how we lead and make decisions about the physical assets that shape our daily lives - from water systems and roads to hospitals, parks, and transit networks.

Written by respected infrastructure thinkers, Ruth Wallsgrove and Lou Cripps, Legacy distills decades of frontline experience into practical guidance for those who carry the weight of stewardship. This isn’t about technology or buzzwords. It’s about responsibility. Clarity. Purpose. And asking better questions.

You’ll learn:

• Why infrastructure should be seen as a tool for communities, not an end in itself.

• The hidden truths about operating costs, risk, and service levels that outlast any shiny new capital project.

• How to take a stewardship mindset to leadership, and why this matters more than ever.

• A roadmap for making better long-term decisions, even under political and financial pressure.

With humor, honesty, Wallsgrove and Cripps guide you through eight core principles of infrastructure decision-making - followed by real-world implementation tips and ready-to-use frameworks. This is a book for leaders who want their decisions to matter not just today, but for generations.

Whether you’re a transit executive, city council member, public works director, or just someone who gives a damn about doing things right - Legacy will help you see the whole picture.

Because in the end, it's not just about the assets.
It's about the future we leave behind.
