Synopsis
After decades of estrangement, David Hill was just starting to rebuild the relationship with his father, John, when a fatal accident ends any chance of the father/son bond flourishing. David is forced to face a future without the family he so desperately wanted but what he is yet to discover, is that his father was part a major organised crime syndicate and the ‘accident’ was anything but that. While there is grieving at the funeral of John Hill, what remains hidden is the search for a high value item that is important to the syndicate. The item, an antique shotgun, is being hunted by a professional with little concern for human life. But he has unwanted competition in the form of the Kinsella brothers. Jimmy and Billy Kinsella are two low level villains with a desire to climb the criminal ladder. They see the shotgun as the leap they need and will stop at nothing to acquire it. In an illicit world full of greed and violence, nobody escapes unharmed. Sometimes what you inherit will change you; forever.
About the Author
Nigel Shinner is a Pembrokeshire born and raised author with a deep interest in the hidden parts of human behaviour and a vivid imagination. Personally, Nigel is a larger than life character, with a sharp wit and a wicked sense of humour, although his taste in fiction, whether written or on screen, is often from the darker side of the human condition, with psychological thrillers being a firm favourite. Throughout his working career, Nigel has always loved meeting and interacting with new people and his various jobs have allowed him to travel to the four corners of the United Kingdom. And although he has been to many wild and wonderful places in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, nowhere he has been will replace his beloved Wales, or more specifically, the county of Pembrokeshire. The words may come easy now but that was not always the case. Whilst in school, Nigel was not a fan of academia with English being his least favourite subject thus leading him to do very badly in his final examinations. Although, he did develop a passion for reading after his school life had ended, especially the reading of true crime and horror fiction. This sparked the idea that he himself could also write such stories. After a half-hearted attempted at a creative writing course and several efforts to write a worthy story over a fifteen year period, Nigel found his focus and eventually succeeded in completing his first book FROM WITHIN, a detective story that looks back in a cold war project of the CIA that erupts in the present day. This was released via Amazon in the spring of 2015. FROM WITHIN has received dozens of five star reviews from across the globe, and although a small independent release, the story has a loyal following which has demanded a sequel. The author has responded and is currently working on THE MINDSWEEPER which is due to be released in 2016. THE MINDSWEEPER is aimed to be a stand-alone story but a direct follow up to FROM WITHIN, which Nigel is endeavouring to make a better and more commercially viable story. And for all those who like useless trivia THE MINDSWEEPER was the working title of FROM WITHIN so it was the natural title of the sequel which will become book two of THE MINDSWEEPER SERIES.
