About this title

Legally STUPiD responds to the 50-year old question, "Why can't Johnny read?" He doesn't have to read. Johnny has "legal" permission to not read on his own and must be read to. Writing assignments are done in "group learning" activities where Johnny is encourage to leach off motivated learners who'll do all the work and share the grade. Johnny will be passed from course to course, grade level to grade level and eventually "given" a high school diploma. But Johnny will be "functionally illiterate." That's okay. He has permission from the public school system, politicians, big business and his parents to be "dumb on purpose," which is "stupid." Legally STUPiD documents current teaching strategies in use today that ensure the next generation of public school graduates will be dependent on government support financed by the tax payer because they will be unable to get a viable, good paying job or go on to college. This book strongly supports Christian education -- a classical Christian school or home school.

About the Author:

The author is a medically retired Army veteran who left a good job as a technical writer to teach high school English. He was soon told he could not require his students to read their literature assignments, that writing assignments would be done as "group learning" activity and that grammar could only be taught if he was willing to make it into a game. After four years of fighting the system, Murray quit teaching and returned to being a technical writer, but he has dedicated the rest of his life to warning parents to get their kids out of Big Brother's schools. Murray is the author of thousands of articles and personal essays and two other books, Golden Knights: History of the U.S. Army Parachute Team and Prole Nation. Prole Nation is also available through, or it can be purchased through the publisher, Lighthouse Christian Publishing. Many of his articles can be found on his website, Voice from the Pews. Others can be found at News With Views, a conservative online magazine.
