The Legend of the Lost Mare (Paperback or Softback)

When a ghostly mare appears out of the fog, twelve-year-old Molly MacLeod and the Mud Street Misfits discover that saving their town will take more than courage-it will take magic.

In the small town of Ozark, Halloween has always been a time for lanterns, laughter, and the Mare of Mud Street Festival-until Mayor Scott abruptly cancels it. But when a spectral horse named Angel returns from legend to deliver a mysterious message-SAVE OZARK-Molly, her brother, and their friends, the self-named Mud Street Misfits, uncover a century-old secret buried beneath their town's streets.

With the help of an ancient spirit board, hidden journals, and a copper horse passed down through generations, the Misfits are drawn into a struggle between light and shadow that stretches back to Ozark's founding. Each clue brings them closer to the lost Arcanum of Scottsmoor-a magical tome of dangerous power once owned by the Scott family-and to the truth about their own growing gifts.

As Molly's magic awakens, and the others' powers deepen, they must race against the Scotts' ruthless plan to control the town's energy and rewrite its history. Together, the Misfits stand up to fear, expose buried truths, and rekindle the light of the forgotten festival.

Blending mystery, friendship, folklore, and courage, The Legend of the Lost Mare is a spellbinding middle-grade adventure about believing in your own light-even when the world grows dark. Perfect for fans of The Spiderwick Chronicles, City of Ghosts, and The Graveyard Book, this story captures the magic of small towns, loyal friendships, and the bravery it takes to change what's broken.
