En mi modesta opinión, la Leyenda del Mahaduta, si bien tiene la función de explicar a todos qué es el Karma a modo de pequeño cuento, no tiene en su finalidad su mayor virtud sino en el contenido de algunas frases.
Yo, como buen occidental, tiendo a leer bastante deprisa, a menudo saltándome palabras y a veces frases enteras en favor de una lectura más ágil. Pero en este relato me he tenido que parar varias veces a releer algunas de las frases que contiene. A mi parecer, están llenas de sabiduría y sentido común.Por ejemplo. A lo largo de mi vida he acuñado una frase que, a base de usarla tanto, la he hecho mía: al final, todo el mundo tiene lo que se merece . Creo que es una explicación muy simplista de lo que es el karma y, lo que es más curioso y la razón por la que la saco en mi blog, el texto contiene una enseñanza que es exactamente igual a esa frase mía:
La gente crea sus propios destinos a través de sus acciones.
Esta es solo una de las muchas frases que me han llamado la atención de la leyenda de Mahaduta.
"Aquel que causa daño a otros se daña a sí mismo;
Aquel que ayuda a otros se ayuda a sí mismo aún más.
Para encontrar el Camino puro, el Sendero de Luz,
Abandona la falsedad de que tienes un ego.
" Viene a ser la misma enseñanza pero ligeramente desarrollada y explicada. Viene a ser a ese pequeño juego de cuando éramos niños en los que, cuando alguien nos llamaba tonto , le respondíamos bota, rebota y en tu cara explota . Todo lo que hacemos, al final, bota rebota y en tu cara explota, ¿verdad?
Ya casi para terminar, quiero transcribir el juramento que hace uno de los personajes del cuento para simbolizar su unión al Dharma. Me ha parecido impactante y creo que es una plegaría que todos nosotros deberíamos usar nada más levantarnos por las mañanas. Si todo el mundo hiciera este juramente...
"Los seres vivos son innumerables; yo hago el voto de salvarlos a todos.
Las aflicciones son inacabables; yo hago el voto de extinguirlas todas.
Las Puertas al Dharma son incontables; yo hago el voto de penetrarlas todas.
El Camino a Buda es insuperable; yo hago el voto de completarlo."
La última enseñanza de la leyenda choca de frente con toda la experimentación religiosa que he sufrido a lo largo de mi vida y que, al final, me ha dejado tan descontento.
