Leopard Rescue: True-Life Stories

The thoroughly moving books in the Born Free series tell the stories of wild animals around the world that have been saved from a lifetime of cruelty and suffering.
The Born Free Foundation's mission is to protect many different species in their natural habitats, working with local communities to make sure that people and wildlife can live together peacefully. In Leopard Rescue, children will meet a family of leopards named Zeus, Leda, Roxanni, and Rhea, that lived in a small, cramped cage in captivity. Zeus and Leda were born free, but twins Roxanni and Rhea never even stepped foot in the wild. See how the Born Free Foundation worked to get them out of captivity! Parents will be intrigued by these books as they recall Born Free, the movie that inspired a generation. In it, they learned the story of Elsa, an orphaned lion cub that was brought up by Joy and George Adamson (portrayed by Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna in the movie and the founders of the Born Free Foundation) and released back into the wild. Children will be inspired as they read how the Born Free Foundation comes to the rescue, saving suffering animals and giving them their well-deserved happy endings. Both parents and children will find the stories in these books wonderful conversation starters about life, compassion, taking a stand for what you believe in, and making the world a better place.

"The books in the series help to teach children how to help to make the world a better place through love, empathy and standing up for what you believe in. These inspiring stories for children are perfect for all ages. With summer coming up, it's important to keep kids reading so they don't get the summer brain drain and this series is perfect for that!"

"Chances are, parents will be intrigued by these books as they recall the movie Born Free. Similarly, children will be inspired as they read how Born Free comes to the rescue of animals today. Not only will kids learn about the animals, they will also learn about empathy, taking a stand for what they believe in, and making the world a better place. Reading just one book probably won't be enough. You (and your children) will probably want to read each and every book in the series!"

"Each volume emphasizes the dedication and hard work of the rescuers as well as the horrible condition the animals endured before their rescue. Bright, full-color photographs are scattered throughout."

"Our family loves animals and I believe as a parent having a pet is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. It not only teaches responsibility but it encourages kids to be responsible and teaches them about compassion which is why I can not say enough positive about the Born Free series which includes stories of animal rescues including a lion, dolphin, leopard, chimp and an elephant. Our daughter, who is 9, has read this series and we find that the stories are age appropriate, clearly written and share images that tell the story without being too graphic or scary for younger readers."
