First Printing of this edition. small octavo, red cloth. (xii), 167pp. The Typophiles, With an Introductory Note by John Dreyfus and Recollections of Stanley Morison by Beatrice Warde. Dreyfus explains that these essays have appeared only once before in origiinal, limited editions. The first was commissioned to inaugurate a series of type- specimen facsimiles, duplicating all pre-1800 designs of known origin and the second focuses on Italian scripts of the XV and the XVI centuries as illustrated in contemporary printed writing books. Illustrated. Spine faded, edges of text block slightly foxed. Contents clean.
