Letters Of. W. Amherst Hayne, With An Intr. By G.T. Fox — William Amherst Hayne's correspondence is presented as eight letters addressed to a young friend at a public school and later at Cambridge. The collection reveals a simple, fervent Christian faith, intimate affection, and practical Scriptural guidance intended for schoolboys, candidates for Confirmation, and university newcomers. The editor, the Rev. George Townshend Fox, provides an introduction, but the letters themselves show Hayne's effort to influence peers toward Christ, with reflections on surrender to God, baptism, and daily holy living. Travel notes woven into the diurnal life illustrate how faith informs study, travel, and fellowship. The volume stands as a devotional record of a devout young life in 19th-century Anglican context and aims to encourage faith, perseverance, and spiritual growth.
