Lovely antique 1794 leatherbound botany book containing "Letters on the Elements of Botany. Addressed to a Lady. Translated into English with Notes, and Twenty-Four additional Letters, fully explaining the System of Linnaeus," which is also bound with "Thirty-Eight Plates, with Explanations; Intended to Illustrate Linnaeus's System of Vegetables, and Particularly Adapted to the Letters on the Elements of Botany." The book is overall in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. It is beautifully illustrated with 38 hand colored botany plates. The book has been recently rebacked with a new leather spine & label. The covers have some scuffing and wear. The binding is good and sound. The interior is lightly toned from age but is mostly nice and clean with some scattered light foxing. Page 303/304 has chipping flaw to the side margin which most likely is the result of an error in the printing process; no text is affected. One of the pages in the table of contents has a repaired corner. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a tiny chip or tear, creased page corner, light bit of soiling or grubbiness, minor stain or marking, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 8 1/2 inches by 5 3/8 inches and is 503+72 pages long. Seller Inventory # 305534162151
