Letters On The Gold-Silver Question From The China Stand Point (1893)

""Letters On The Gold-Silver Question From The China Stand Point"" is a book written by W. S. Wetmore in 1893. The book is a collection of letters that were originally published in the ""North China Herald"" newspaper. The letters discuss the ongoing debate about the use of gold and silver as currency, and offer a unique perspective from the point of view of China. The author argues that the use of silver as currency is essential for the Chinese economy, and that the adoption of the gold standard would have negative consequences. Wetmore discusses the history of currency in China, the impact of the Opium War, and the role of foreign powers in the country's monetary system. The book provides valuable insights into the economic and political situation in China during the late 19th century, and sheds light on the global debate about the use of gold and silver as currency. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
