The correspondence of Lady Rachel Russell, an English noblewoman, heiress, and author. These letters are addressed to her husband and other distinguished men. With an introduction detailing the trial of Lord William Russel, an English politician and leader member of the Country Party the forerunners to the Whigs. Lord Russell was tried for high treason for encouraging opposition in the House of Commons to the accession of an openly Catholic king in James II, he was found guilty and executed. Rebound in straight grained morocco. Externally, sound with rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light age toning to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
