T125790.This work was written under the pseudonym of 'Simkin the Second', and was actually written byRalph Broome. Broome was a pamphleteer and satirical poet. He argued in defence of Warren Hastings' during the hisimpeachment proceedings.Broome did not know Hastings personally, but he attended the impeachment proceedings and argued in his defence. Hastings was the first Governor of the Presidency of Fort William (Bengal) and the head of the Supreme Council of Bengal. In a quarter morocco binding, with paper covered boards. Rebacked, with the original boards preserved. Externally, very smart. Rubbing to the boards, with the paper lifting slightly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Small hole to the front endpaper. The occasional light spots to pages. Very Good Indeed.
