About the Author

Dorothy Derapelian, M.Ed, LCMHC has a private practice in mental health counseling in Meredith New Hampshire since 1985. She also conducts home studies for families seeking to grow their families through domestic or international adoption for Child and Family Services. In addition, she is a Certified Advanced Trainer for The Nurtured Heart Approach(R). She also a member of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Mental Health Team for families who have experienced homicide. Finally, she is an instructor for Granite State College. She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and a post graduate of The University of New Hampshire at Durham. As you have read, she is the creator of Core Attachment Therapy(c), a process to help secure the attachment bonds between the adopted child with his/her new parents. In her free time, she enjoys many outdoor activities. Most importantly, she is the proud adoptive mother of a wonderful, now 28 year old woman whom she adopted when her daughter was 6 years old from Russia.
