Add to basket200 pp. Stiff illustrated covers, light wear at corners. String bound. This is an interesting compilation of material related to advertising and the printing arts. Includes examples of various papers, printing styles, illustrations, inks, etc. and many various presentations when different elements were utilized in combination. The inside front cover is the cover from the May, 1913 issue (Vol. XXI, No.3) of The Printing Art. This could be a compilation of material from that publication, but that is not laid out. There is no formal title page, and no title or other identification for the four page essay attributed to Stern which is the only element in this work which extends for multiple pages. This essay compares various methods of illustration reproduction (half-tone, photogravure, rotary rotogravure, rubber offset lithography, offset) This is a most unusual piece, demonstrating the state of commercial printing in the early 20th century.
