First edition. Printed in double columns. Contemporary Cambridge panel-style bindings, rebacked and repaired. With an engraved portrait by G.White after R. White in first state (Aetat Suae 37) and 7 plates (some folding) in volume I, and 7 engraved plates (some folding) in volume II. Sion College Library copy. Volume I with the inscription of Richard Roderick, one of the original subscribers, on the front pastedown. It reads: "Bibliotheca Sionensi D. D. Rich. Roderick. S. TP. Sti Mich: Bassishaw Lond. Rector 1706" With the Stamp of Sion College on the verso of the title-pages of both volumes. Richard Roderick was also President of Sion College. Volume II has bookplate of Edward Waple, Vicar of St. Sepulchre Church, London, dated 1712, also associated with Sion College. Paper browned unevenly throughout both volumes due to the uneven and poor quality of the paper used. Upper corner of frontispiece in Volume I next to gutter repaired, not affecting image and tear in lower margin repaired. Inner margin of title-page in Volume I reinforced. A small portion of the corners of the Dedication and Preface in the same volume extended. Double Microscope plate in Volume I originally repaired with tape; tape removed, but stains remain.
