Williams' zany debut chronicles the love lives (and lies) of a set of young Australians. Elli meets Minnow in a bar and is immediately attracted to him, but she scares him away when she tells him she has a child. It's a lie, just as it is when Minnow tells his new employer that he has a child so that he can get better hours. Elli and Minnow meet again and can't deny their attraction to each other, but each falsely believes the other has a child, and neither is able to come clean. Meanwhile, their various friends are juggling their own romances and dishonesties. Minnow's friend, Doug, is sleeping with Jacinta, who thinks Doug is Minnow. Jacinta, who works with Elli, is also carrying on an affair with one of Australia's richest men. And Elli has no idea that her ex-boyfriend is dating one of Minnow's friends. It sounds like a jumble, but Williams manages to keep all the plot threads and characters straight while telling a hilarious, madcap story. Kristine Huntley
